Dollars & Sense: A Guide to Supports for Employers

 WPH's Dollars & Sense: A guide to employment services, tax and training credits, incentives and supports for employers was updated in November 2015.

The guide helps employers to cut though the confusion to provide information that they need in a centralized manner. 

Taking advantage of the listed programs will allow employers to defray costs associated with training apprentices, hiring youth, summer students and other candidates.

Women at Work: Labour Market Snapshot of Skilled Trades for Women in Hamilton

An info-graphic was created as part of the information that was included in a booklet distributed to female high school students who attended Tech 2014 on February 25, 2014.  

Although there are over 21,000 employed people in Hamilton who have a trades certificate or apprenticeship education only 6,515 of those are women.  The ratio of men to women in the skilled trades in Hamilton is 3:1.

Listening to the Voices of Experienced Workers in Hamilton: Workforce Barriers and Solutions

As people remain in the workplace longer they face a distinct set of barriers to finding employment. This project entailed interviewing 20 experienced workers (people 45 years of age and over) to discover their barriers to employment.  A literature search was carried out to discover what research has been done in the past regarding barriers to employment for this group.  

A call to action is included with recommendations for the future.
