On Wednesday, February 27, 2008 a Skilled Trades Employer Recognition Lunch was sponsored by the Skilled Trades Alliance and the local Apprenticeship Branch at Hamilton's Scottish Rite. During the award ceremony portion of the program, an award was given to Elettra Technology. Accepting the award was WPH Board Member, Ann McLaughlin, Manager, Human Resources and Finance; and Joe Aiello, VP Operations/Owner.
WPH congratulates Ann and Joe on their accomplishments! Following is the introduction delivered by Paul Mecke of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
The Skilled Trades Alliance Committee would like to recognize Elettra Technology for their continued commitment to apprenticship training.
Ellettra provides OYAP, co-op, Job Connect and Targeted Wage placement opportunities to clients and students and works in partnership with SISO and Job Connect to enable new Canadians with opportunities to re-enter the workforce in their trade areas.
Recognizing that language barriers may exist, Elettra covers the cost of language upgrading. They recognize the difficulty for youth to make the school-work transition and offer two start time schedules and reduced work weeks to ease the changeover.
Elettra has provided letters of support for Mohawk's Pre-Apprenticeship Millwright and Machining programs and offered employment to four individuals who completed the program.
Elettra, thank you for supporting apprenticeship opportunities in the manufacturing sector.
