Workforce Planning Hamilton (WPH) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that profiles the
needs and issues of Hamilton’s labour market and supports labour force development in our community. Representation on the Board of Directors includes: Business, Labour, Education and Training, Women, Francophones, Immigrants and Visible Minorities and Persons with Disabilities. WPH contributes to a prosperous community where labour market issues are proactively addressed to
enable individuals and organizations to achieve their full potential.
Workforce Planning Hamilton currently has a vacancy for the position of Director representing Business.
We are seeking expressions of interest from those who would like to represent this constituency and
bring the perspective and experience of Business to discussions on labour market issues at the Board level.
The successful candidate will be judged using the following criteria:
o Volunteer Board/governance experience
o Knowledge of labour market issues
o Perspective and experience
Following are some requirements and expectations of a WPH Director:
o To attend and participate at regularly scheduled Board meetings, usually monthly
o To assist in and support the promotion of WPH research and events
o To attend, when available, and participate at WPH events
o To participate on working ad hoc committees that are established from time to time to address certain Board activities, operational issues, and partnerships
o To attend and participate in the Board’s annual strategic retreat (typically held in the fall)
o To represent the views and issues of the Director’s constituency group, Business, in an effective and constructive manner (this may include representing WPH at events and meetings)
o To adhere to the by-laws of the corporation and standards of business ethics
o To be a Canadian citizen
